Fork Side Shift Cylinder Installation
1. Place the rod end of the fork side shift cylinder (1)
through the opening in the center support of the
carriage. Pull the cylinder base end toward the
outside edge of the carriage and position behind the
retaining plate.
2. Secure the fork side shift cylinder (1) in place using
the cylinder retainer shims (2), cylinder retainer plate
(3), capscrews (4), cylinder bolt retainer cams (5)
and hex nuts (6).
3. Position the retainer shims (2) and retainer plate (3)
against the center support of the carriage, line up
the holes and insert a capscrew (4) with bolt cam (5)
through the retainer plate and shims from the
cylinder side through each hole. Rotate the bolt
cams against the cylinder (1) and tighten securely
with the hex nuts (6). Be sure the bolt cams remain

5. Apply Loctite Threadlocker 277 (red) High Strength
to the threads of the cylinder rod (9). Be sure the
flats on the rod end pawl are against the carriage.
Line up the rod end pawl (10) with the cylinder rod.
Using the hex part (11) of the cylinder rod, turn the
rod until the rod end pawl bottoms on the threads of
the cylinder rod. The flats on the pawl will keep the
pawl from rotating while turning the cylinder rod.

6. Check the bushings inside each fork. If the bushings
are worn or torn, replace with new bushings. Be sure
to thoroughly clean the fork "eye" (12) in each fork of
all old bushing residue and debris. Use a lapping tool
or a hard wire rotary brush to remove the bushing
residue, debris, rust or uneven metal in each fork.
Note: Be careful not to tear the bushings when inserting
the fork shaft through the forks.
