4. Place snap ring (12) onto the end of the brake pedal
shaft (13) to secure the service brake pedal
assembly to the steering column plates (16 and 17).
5. Slide the brake pedal adjustment block (20), onto the
roller pin (21). Make sure that the adjustment hex
nut (22) is loose and adjust the brake pedal
adjustment screw (23) so the base of the block
mates squarely with the valve mounting plate (24).
6. Tighten hex nut securely once the proper adjustment
has been reached. Remove adjustment block from
roller pin.
7. Hook the wide opening of the spring (9) onto the pin
in the steering column (10) and the narrow opening
of the spring into the hole in the service brake pedal
assembly (11).

8. Install and secure the lower dash cover (8) with three
#12-14 x 1" self-drilling screws (7) (one screw not
visible in illustration).
9. Adjust the brake switch as needed (refer to Section
10.13.6, Service Brake Switch ).
10. Connect the negative (-) battery cable (4) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
11. Connect the negative (-) battery equalizer cable (5)
at the bottom of the battery equalizer (6). Torque the
nut to a maximum of 100 lbs/in (11 Nm).
12. Replace battery box cover (1). Use the wing nuts (2)
and carriage bolts (3) to secure the cover in place.

Throttle Pedal Replacement

a. Throttle Pedal Removal
1. Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface. Allow
sufficient overhead and side clearance for cab
removal. Level the vehicle, ground the attachment,
place the travel select lever in the [N] NEUTRAL
position, place the neutral lock lever in the [N]
NEUTRAL LOCK position, engage the parking brake
switch and shut the engine OFF. Open the engine
hood. Allow the engine and hydraulic fluid to cool.
2. Place an Accident Prevention Tag on both the
ignition switch and steering wheel, stating that the
vehicle should not be operated. (Refer to Section
1.5, Accident Prevention Tag Usage .)
3. Remove engine side battery box cover (1). Remove
wing nuts (2) and carriage bolts (3) and set cover
and mounting hardware aside for later re-assembly.
4. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (4) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
5. Disconnect the negative (-) cable (5) at the bottom of
the battery equalizer (6).
6. Remove three capscrews (25), lockwashers (26) and
flat washers (27) securing the throttle pedal
assembly (28) to the cab floor (29).

7. Remove the extension spring (30) as required from
the throttle pedal assembly.
8. Remove the jam nut (31) and flat washer (32)
securing the throttle cable (33) to the accelerator
pedal assembly (28).
9. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly (28) from the
cab.
