32. Install air cleaner mount plate (1), engine air cleaner
assembly (2), air intake hose (3) and air cleaner
hose (4). Connect the air filter restriction sensor
wiring connector (5).

33. Clean the transmission oil filter mounting surface.
34. Apply a clean film of clean oil to the new
transmission filter gasket. Install the new filter and
torque to 20-25 lb/ft (27-34 Nm).
35. Transmission oil may be added through the dipstick
tube. Remove the dipstick and add approximately
3 gallons (11 liters) of recommended oil. Check the
oil level by taking intermittent dipstick readings as
outlined in Section 2.13.10, a. Transmission Oil Level
Check . DO NOT overfill. Reinstall the dipstick when
finished.
36. Set the battery equalizer bracket (11) into the engine
pod.
37. Lift the battery box assembly (6), with a hoist or
some other means, into position and re-install the
eight capscrews (7) and lockwashers (8) to secure it
to the frame.
38. Install the capscrew (9) and elastic locknut (10) at
the top right corner of the battery equalizer
bracket (11).

39. Install the three carriage bolts (12) and elastic
locknuts (13) securing the bottom of the equalizer
bracket to the engine pod.

40. Connect the wires to the NATO slave
receptacle (14), starter solenoid (15), solargizer
control box (16) and fuel shut-off relay (17).
Follow steps 41 through 45 when installing the two
positive (+) battery equalizer cables (18).
Make sure the equalizer fuses (19) and positive (+) bat-
tery equalizer cables (20) are placed in the following or-
der:
41. Insert the capscrew (21) through the tab (22) on the
equalizer (23).
42. Place a flat washer (24) and fuse (19) onto the
capscrew. Position fuse as required to best see the
clear window.
43. Place the positive (+) battery equalizer cable (20)
onto the capscrew.
44. Place the nylon shoulder washer (25) onto the
capscrew and place against the positive (+) battery
equalizer cable with the hub toward the cable.
45. Secure in place with a flat washer (26),
lockwasher (27) and hex nut (28). Torque the hex nut
to a maximum of 100 lbs/in (11 Nm).
