Boom
6. Remove the top and side wear pads and spacers
attached to the front of the intermediate boom (1).
Tape and mark each pad, spacer and fasteners for
return to its original position upon reinstallation. The
housing support bracket (2) will come off when the
left side wear pads are removed.

7. Return to the cab, fasten your seat belt and start the
engine. Retract the boom slightly until slack is
noticed in the extend chain. Shut the engine OFF.
8. Place an Accident Prevention Tag on both the
ignition switch and steering wheel, stating that the
vehicle should not be operated. (Refer to Section
1.5, Accident Prevention Tag Usage .)
9. Open the engine compartment cover. Allow the
engine, transmission and hydraulic fluid to cool
before proceeding.
10. Remove engine side battery box cover (10). Remove
wing nuts (11) and carriage bolts (12) and set cover
and mounting hardware aside for later re-assembly.

11. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (13) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
12. Disconnect the negative (-) cable (14) at the bottom
of the battery equalizer (15).

13. Remove one socket-head shoulder screw (3), three
shim washers (4) and one elastic locknut (5) to
disconnect the extend chain yoke (6) from the outer
boom. Lay the chain assembly flat against the inner
boom (7).
14. Label, disconnect and plug the fork side shift valve
hoses (8) coming from the fork side shift valve (9) to
MM3420
the hole in the top of the inner boom.
15. Install a lifting eye (16) to the hex nut on the
attachment tilt cylinder (17). Attach suitable
overhead lifting device and sling to the lifting eye.
16. Remove the retaining ring (18) from the upper
attachment pin (19), and remove the pin.
17. Carefully lower the cylinder until you can access the
hose ends on the lower part of the cylinder. Label,
disconnect and plug the hoses (20). Once the hoses
are disconnected carefully lift the cylinder and
reinstall the upper attachment pin (19) and retaining
ring (18).
18. Tie at least 40' (12,2 m) of wire or string onto each of
the four hoses (8 & 20) that run down the inside of
the inner boom. This wire will be used to re-route the
hoses during re-assembly.
