b. Steer Select Switch Disassembly, Inspection and
Replacement
DO NOT disassemble the switch. Replace a defective or
faulty switch with a new one. Inspect the switch and the
wiring harness connector terminals for continuity and
shorting in all three switch positions. Inspect the switch
terminals for continuity in the "up" and "down" positions
and for shorting in the "middle" position. Replace a defec-
tive or faulty switch with a new one.
c. Steer Select Switch Installation and Testing
1. Pull the wire harness connector (1) through the
mounting hole in the dash (12). LIne up the tab on
the harness connector (2) and the tab (3) on the
steering select switch (4) and snap the two pieces
together.

2. Slide the steering select switch back onto the bank of
switches and then snap the whole bank of switches
into the mounting hole in the dash (12).

3. Connect the negative (-) battery cable (13) at the
battery negative (-) terminal on the battery in the
engine side battery box.
4. Connect the negative (-) battery equalizer cable (14)
at the bottom of the battery equalizer (15). Torque
the nut to a maximum of 100 lbs/in (11 Nm).
5. Replace engine side battery box cover (16). Use the
wing nuts (17) and carriage bolts (18) to secure the
cover in place.

6. Clear the area around the vehicle of personnel and
any obstructions to vehicle travel.
7. Start the engine, and check the operation of the
steer select switch functions with the switch in all
three positions.
