c. Cleaning and Drying
Without submerging the variable speed fan, temperature
controls or the air conditioning switch, clean them with an
approved solvent and dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.
d. Inspection and Replacement
For additional information refer to Section 10.7.26, "Cab
Heater & Air Conditioning Blower Motor Circuit and Trou-
bleshooting."
e. Installation and Testing
1. Check that the variable speed fan control (1) is in the
OFF position.
2. If installing the temperature control (2) attach the
control cable (not shown) to the back of the control.
3. Insert the control shaft (1 or 2) through the control
panel (3), ensuring that the knob will in the vertical
position when installed on the shaft.
4. Install the hex locknut on the shaft and tighten.
5. Connect the cab harness connector to the variable
speed fan control.
6. Install the knob (1 or 2) and tighten setscrew,
securing the knob to the control.
7. Snap air conditioning rocker switch (4) into mounting
hole on the control panel. Connect cab harness
connector to the back of the rocker switch.

8. Install the screws (5) and backing locknuts, securing
the control panel to the dash panel.
9. Connect the negative (-) battery cable (6) at the
battery negative (-) terminal on the battery in the
engine side battery box.
10. Connect the negative (-) battery equalizer cable (7)
at the bottom of the battery equalizer (8). Torque the
nut to a maximum of 100 lbs/in (11 Nm).
11. Replace engine side battery box cover (9). Use the
wing nuts (10) and carriage bolts (11) to secure the
cover in place.

12. Turn the ignition switch (2) into the START (5)
position and start the vehicle. Allow the ignition
switch to return to the RUN (4) position and let the
engine warm up to normal operating temperature.
13. Turn the temperature control (2) and the variable
speed fan control (1) all the way to the right to see if
the controls are operating correctly. Make sure the
variable speed fan control (1) operates in each of the
speed positions.
14. Turn the temperature control (2) all the way to the
left, the variable speed fan control (1) all the way to
the right and press the top half of the air conditioning
rocker switch (4) to engage the air conditioning.
