Transmission Maintenance Schedule

Complete transmission maintenance information is locat-
ed in Section 2.13.10, Transmission Oil and Filter .
• At ten hour intervals, check the transmission oil
level. (Refer to Section 2.13.10, Transmission Oil
and Filter .)
• When the vehicle completes its first 50 hours of
use, change the transmission filter. Change the
filter only; DO NOT change the transmission oil
at the first 50 hour maintenance level. (Refer to
Section 2.13.10, Transmission Oil and Filter .)
• At 1,000 hour intervals, change the transmission
oil and filter. (Refer to Section 2.13.10, Transmis-
sion Oil and Filter .)
Periodically, depending on operating conditions and oth-
er factors, back flush the transmission oil cooler, which is
part of the radiator (4). ALWAYS back flush the transmis-
sion oil cooler after removing the transmission for repair
or replacement.
The transmission oil cooler outlet hose (5), routed to the
lower radiator fitting, is located on the top of the transmis-
sion. The transmission oil cooler inlet hose (6), routed to
the upper radiator fitting, is located on the top of the trans-
mission. (Refer to Section 8.6.3, Radiator/Oil Cooler and
Engine Block Heater Replacement , for replacement pro-
cedures.)

CAUTION:
(39.6 bar) when back flushing the oil cooler.

Applying too much pressure may damage the
oil cooler/radiator.

Disconnect and back flush the oil cooler portion of the ra-
diator with oil and compressed air until all foreign material

is removed. If necessary, remove the radiator from the
vehicle and clean the oil cooler circuit using oil, com-
pressed air and steam.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use flushing compounds for
cleaning purposes.

TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT

Note: Contact the JLG Service Department at
1-717-485-5161 (Domestic) or 1-877-554-5438 (Interna-
tional), if internal transmission repair is required during
the warranty period.
IMPORTANT: To help ensure safety and optimum per-
formance, replace the transmission if it is damaged.
Refer to the appropriate parts manual for ordering
information.
Cleanliness is of extreme importance. Before attempting
to remove the transmission, thoroughly clean the exterior
of the transmission to help prevent dirt from entering dur-
ing the replacement process. Avoid spraying water or
cleaning solution onto or near the transmission shift sole-
noids and other electrical components.

DO NOT exceed 165 psi
