e. Steering Column Removal
1. Remove engine side battery box cover (23). Remove
wing nuts (24) and carriage bolts (25) and set cover
and mounting hardware aside for later re-assembly.
2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (20) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
3. Disconnect the negative (-) cable (21) at the bottom
of the battery equalizer (22).
4. Remove four #10-24 x 5/8" button head screws (16)
and J-nuts (14) securing the steering column
bottom (6) and top (17) covers onto the steering
column.
5. Carefully pry the horn button cover (1) out of its
recess in the steering wheel. Disconnect the horn
switch lead (15).
6. Label and disconnect the transmission range
selector and turn signal/lights lever wiring
connectors (26) from the wiring harness.
7. Remove the four hex socket-head screws (13) and
lockwashers (12) securing the steering column (5) to
the steering valve (7).
8. Remove the steering column (5) from the cab.

Steering Column Installation
1. Position the steering column (5) within the cab and
engage the splined lower end of the steering shaft
with the power steering valve (7). Press the steering
column shaft down into the power steering valve.
Fully engage the splines.

Cab, Covers and Mirrors
2. Align the four steering column mounting holes with
the dash panel and power steering valve mounting
holes. Secure the steering column with four
3/8-16 x 1" hex socket-head screws (13) and 3/8"
lockwashers (12). Torque to 31 lb/ft (42 Nm).
3. Plug the electrical connectors (26) into the harness
connectors.
4. Connect the horn switch wire lead (15), then press
the horn button cover (1) into its recess in the
steering wheel.
5. Install the steering column bottom (6) and top (17)
covers onto the steering column. Secure with four
#10-24 x 5/8" button head screws (16) and
J-nuts (14).
6. Connect the negative (-) battery cable (20) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
7. Connect the negative (-) battery equalizer cable (21)
at the bottom of the battery equalizer (22). Torque
the nut to a maximum of 100 lbs/in (11 Nm).
8. Replace battery box cover (23). Use the wing
nuts (24) and carriage bolts (25) to secure the cover
in place.
