Intermediate Boom Replacement

a. Intermediate Boom Removal
1. Remove the fork side shift hose carrier assembly.
(Refer to Section 4.3.1, Fork Side Shift Hose Carrier
Assembly Replacement .)
2. Remove the inner boom as described in Section
4.3.2, Inner Boom Replacement .
3. Disconnect the tube (1) attached to the hose track
bracket (2) on the left side of the outer boom (3) by
removing the bulkhead nut (4). Re-thread the nut
back on the tube to be used for reassembly later.
4. Remove the top and side wear pads and spacers
attached to the front of the outer boom. Tape and
mark each pad, spacer and fasteners for return to its
original position for reinstallation. The hose track
bracket (2) will come off with the front mounting
hardware on the left side wear pads.
5. Working from the front of the vehicle, use a suitable
overhead lifting device and sling attached to the
intermediate boom (5); remove slack from the hoist
sling, and withdraw the intermediate boom
approximately two feet (610 mm).
6. Remove the lower wear pads and spacers attached
to the front of the outer boom. Tape and mark each
pad, spacer and fastener for return to its original
position upon reinstallation.

7. Reposition the sling at the approximate center of the
intermediate boom, and then continue withdrawing
the boom until it clears the vehicle. Carefully lower
the intermediate boom onto suitable supports or to
the ground.
WARNING:

8. Inspect the boom and welds. Contact the JLG
Service Department or the local JLG Authorized
Service Center (ASC) if structural damage is
detected.
9. Inspect hoses, hardware, wear pads, mounting
points, chains and other components visible with the
intermediate boom removed. Replace if damaged.
