12. Carefully remove the jack, hoist or overhead crane
and sling supporting the axle.
13. Carefully raise the vehicle using a suitable jack or
hoist. Remove the supports from beneath the frame
and lower the vehicle to the ground.
14. Remove the blocks from the front and rear of both
tires on the other axle.
15. Uncap and connect the steering and brake lines at
their axle fittings.
Note: Always use new flat-faced o-rings when connect-
ing hydraulic fittings.
16. Check wheel end oil levels. Refer to Wheel End Oil
Level Check, page 2.48
17. Check hydraulic reservoir oil levels. Refer to
Hydraulic Oil Level Check, page 2.41
WARNING:
operation in closed areas without adequate
ventilation. Failure to properly ventilate
exhaust fumes can result in death or severe
personal injury.
WARNING:
under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing
death or serious injury. Before starting the
engine, tighten all hydraulic connections and
remove all tools from the vehicle. NEVER
check for leaks using any part of the human
body; use a piece of cardboard or wood
instead. Wear heavy, protective gloves and
eye protection.

18. Connect the negative (-) battery cable (6) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
19. Connect the negative (-) battery equalizer cable (7)
at the bottom of the battery equalizer (8). Torque the
nut to a maximum of 100 lbs/in (11 Nm).
20. Replace battery box cover (9). Use the wing
nuts (10) and carriage bolts (11) to secure the cover
in place.

21. Start the engine. Turn the steering wheel several
times lock to lock, operate the frame sway function
several times in both directions, and check the
function of the brakes. Check for hydraulic leaks and
tighten or repair as necessary.
