IMPORTANT: To help ensure optimum performance, the
drive shaft assemblies are specially balanced as a unit at
the factory. Mark the drive shaft yoke at the transmission
for return to its original position.
35. The drive shaft assembly is a balanced assembly.
Mark the yoke and transmission, transfer case, and
the shaft and slip yoke so that these components
can be returned to their original positions when
reinstalled. Yokes at both ends of the drive shaft
must be in the same plane to help prevent excessive
vibration.
36. Remove the eight [4-Front and 4-Rear]
capscrews (19), sixteen [8-Front and 8-Rear]
lockwashers (20) and eight [4-Front and 4-Rear] nuts
(21) securing the flange yokes to the transfer box
and transmission.
37. Remove the drive shaft assembly (22).
