c. Four Wheel Steer Indexing
If the vehicle does not drive "straight," the steering could
not be synchronized or "out of phase." Perform the Four
Wheel Steer indexing procedure to synchronize the
steering.
1. With the steer select switch (1) in the four wheel
steer position (4), turn the steering wheel fully left.
2. While holding the steering wheel fully left, toggle the
steer select switch to the front wheel steer
position (2).
3. Steer the front wheels back to center.
4. Toggle the steer select switch back to four wheel
steer position. (4)
5. Turn the steering wheel fully left.
6. Toggle the steer select switch back to the front wheel
steer position (2).
7. Steer the front wheels fully left.
8. Toggle the switch to the four wheel steer position (4)
and return to center.
The vehicle should now be properly indexed in four wheel
steer. If the steering is still not synchronized, repeat the
procedure. (Refer to Section 10.7.14, Front Steer Circuit
and Troubleshooting and subsequent circuits and trou-
bleshooting charts.)

10.13.13 Steer Select Switches

a. Steer Select Switch Removal
1. Remove engine side battery box cover (11). Remove
wing nuts (12) and carriage bolts (13) and set cover
and mounting hardware aside for later re-assembly.
2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (14) at the
battery negative (-) terminal on the battery in the
engine side battery box.
3. Disconnect the negative (-) cable (15) at the bottom
of the battery equalizer (16).

4. Carefully pry the bank of four switches (1) and wiring
out of the mounting hole in the dash. Slide the
steering select switch off the rest of the bank of
switches.
5. Disconnect the wire harness connector (17) from the
steering select switch (18) by pressing down on the
tab (19) on the wire harness connector (17).
Remove the switch from the vehicle.
