Valve Plate Assembly

The main control valve (1) and the pilot select manifold
(2) are mounted on a valve plate located at the back of
the vehicle inside the rear door.
Follow the procedure in this section to remove the valve
plate assembly (3) from the vehicle in order to service the
main control valve (4) or the pilot select manifold (5). If
only the pilot select manifold needs servicing, it is not
necessary to remove the entire valve plate assembly
from the vehicle.
a. Valve Plate Removal
1. Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface, fully retract
all hydraulic cylinders, raise the boom, place the
travel select lever in [N] NEUTRAL, place the neutral
lock lever in the [N] NEUTRAL LOCK position, engage
the park brake switch and shut the engine OFF.

2. Place an Accident Prevention Tag on both the
ignition switch and the steering wheel, stating that
the vehicle should not be operated. Refer to Section
1.5, Accident Prevention Tag Usage .

WARNING:
raised boom unless the boom is blocked up.
Always block the boom before doing any servic-
ing that requires the boom to be up. Unexpected

lowering of the boom may cause death or serious
injury.
3. Temporarily block up or support the raised boom.
WARNING:
cause severe burns. Wait for hydraulic fluid to
cool before servicing any hydraulic component.
4. Unlatch and open the engine cover. Allow the
hydraulic fluid to cool.
WARNING:
under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing
death or serious injury. Relieve hydraulic pres-
sure before servicing any hydraulic component.
5. Thoroughly clean the pilot select manifold, main
control valve and surrounding area, including all
hoses and fittings, before proceeding.
6. Label or otherwise mark the hydraulic hoses and
tubes at the main control valve and pilot select
manifold. Place a suitable container to catch
hydraulic fluid drainage beneath the rear counterweight.
