6. Check the bushings inside each fork. If the bushings
are worn or torn, replace with new bushings. Be sure
to thoroughly clean the fork "eye" (13) of all old
bushing residue and debris. Use a lapping tool or a
hard wire rotary brush to remove the bushing
residue, debris, rust or uneven metal in each fork.
Note: Be careful not to tear the bushings when inserting
the fork shaft through the forks.
7. Reassemble the fork shaft (14) and forks (15) to the
carriage. Push the fork shaft in from the right side of
the carriage, placing the forks over the rod end pawls
and then inserting the fork shaft through the fork.
8. Place the fork shaft retainer (16) in place on the right
side of the carriage (17). Apply Loctite 242 (blue)
removable threadlocker to the threads of the two
screws (18) and secure the retainer plate to the
carriage. Torque both screws to 120-125 lb/ft (163-
169 Nm).

9. Reassemble the fittings into the ports on the
cylinder.
10. Reassemble the hydraulic hoses to the appropriate
ports on the cylinder.
WARNING:
operation in closed areas with inadequate ven-
tilation. Failure to properly ventilate exhaust
fumes can result in death or serious injury.
11. Start the engine and run at approximately one-third
to one-half throttle for about one minute without
moving the vehicle or operating any hydraulic
functions.
WARNING:
under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing
death or serious injury.
12. Activate the fork side shift switches to shift the forks
to the right and left. Repeat shifting the forks fully
from one side to the other side 3-5 times.
13. Inspect for leaks and check the level of the hydraulic
fluid in the reservoir. Shut the engine OFF. Add
hydraulic fluid to the reservoir as required.
14. Wipe up any hydraulic fluid spillage in, on, near and
around the vehicle, work area and tools.
