Outer Boom Replacement

WARNING:

soles. Failure to comply can result in foot or
other bodily injury from slipping or falling.

c. Outer Boom Removal
1. Remove both the inner boom and intermediate
boom as described in Section 4.3.2, a. Inner Boom
Removal and Section 4.3.4, a. Intermediate Boom
Removal .
2. If the boom section is to be replaced, remove the
retract chain (1), by removing the locknut (2) at front
of the outer boom.

3. Label, disconnect and plug the extend (3),
retract (4), attachment tilt (5), and fork side shift (6)
hoses. Cap the fittings on the boom tubes.
4. Remove all clamps (10) securing the attachment
tilt (11) and fork side shift tube assemblies (12) to
the outer boom and frame. (The clamps (10) shown
in the bubble are on the underside of the boom in
two places.) Save the mounting hardware. Label and
remove the tube assemblies.
5. Remove the hose track guide (7) from the studs (8)
on the side of the outer boom. Save flat washers (9).
6. Use a suitable overhead lifting device and sling
attached to the outer boom; raise and support the
outer boom at a slight angle. Allow room to remove
the lift/lower cylinder attaching hardware.
