Fuel Level Indicator Troubleshooting

Fuel Level
Indicator
Before troubleshooting any
electrical circuit, ALWAYS
begin by checking the
following:
1. Fuses.
2. Batteries for proper
charge.
3. All connections relating
to circuit are clean and
tight.
Fuel Level Indicator reads
EMPTY while operating.
Verify fuel quantity
level in tank.
Disconnect fuel level sender
and check resistance at
fuel sender.
Verify 5 volts on circuit 27,
(BRN/GRN), pin A.
Refer to Section 10.7.7,
Main Electrical Schematic
(Sheet 2 of 6) .
Replace dash panel.

Fill fuel tank.
Check ground circuit 2H (BLK) wire for continuity:
Fuel Full – Less than 40 ohms
3/4 – Greater than 40 ohms
1/2 – Greater than 50 ohms
1/4 – Greater than 63 ohms
Empty – Greater than 79 ohms
If not OK, repair ground.
Refer to Section 10.7.7, Main Electrical Schematic
(Sheet 2 of 6) .
Replace sending unit in tank.
