47. Connect a suitable engine hoist to the front engine
lift plate (19) and transmission lift plate (20). Move
engine harness away from lifting chain.

48. At the front of the engine, remove the two elastic
locknuts (21), rebound washers (22), capscrews (23)
and flat washers (24) securing the front engine
mounts (29 and 31) to the hydraulic reservoir/engine
mount subframe.
49. At the rear of the engine, remove the two elastic
locknuts (25), rebound washers (26), capscrews (27)
and flat washers (28), securing the rear engine
mounts (30 and 31) to the hydraulic reservoir/engine
mount subframe.
50. Remove either the fan or the radiator to help prevent
damage to the radiator when the engine is removed
(refer to Section 8.6.3, Radiator/Oil Cooler and
Engine Block Heater Replacement).
51. Begin removing the engine from the vehicle with the
hoist or overhead crane.
52. As the engine is lifted away and removed, avoid
damaging the oil filter and oil filter housing.
53. Carefully lift the engine and transmission out and away
from the vehicle. Place the engine and transmission
safely onto ground supports, or in a suitable engine
stand. DO NOT allow the engine to rest on its oil pan,
or damage will occur. DO NOT allow the transmission
to rest on its case, or damage will occur.
54. The transmission can now be separated from the
engine (refer to Section 7.7.1, Transmission Removal ).
