5. Remove the screw (9) and lockwasher (10) holding
the knob (11) in place.
6. Remove the hex nut (12) and both flat washers (13)
securing the ignition switch (14) to the mounting
hole (15) in the dash.
7. Reach up and under the dash to work the ignition
switch and wiring out from behind the dash panel.

8. Label and disconnect the wires (18) connected to
the ignition switch (19). Remove the screws (20) and
external tooth lockwashers (21) securing the wires to
the pins on the back of the switch. Save the
hardware for later re-assembly. Remove the switch
from the vehicle.

b. Disassembly
DO NOT disassemble the ignition switch. Replace a de-
fective switch with a new part.
c. Inspection and Replacement
To determine the proper operation of the ignition switch,
and using the charts below, test the terminals on the back
of the switch for continuity with an ohmmeter.
Test the Ignition switch for continuity, by checking from
the terminal "B" to each of the other terminals in each
switch position. Continuity (X) should be present as indi-
cated in the following table:
Test from "B"(22) to:

If all terminals do not show proper continuity, replace the
ignition switch.
