Joystick Replacement

a. Joystick Handle Replacement
Joystick Handle Removal
1. Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface. Set the park
brake, ground the carriage, place the travel select
lever in the [N] NEUTRAL position, place the neutral
lock lever in the [N] NEUTRAL LOCK position,
engage the parking brake and turn the ignition OFF.

2. Remove engine side battery box cover (1). Remove
wing nuts (2) and carriage bolts (3) and set cover
and mounting hardware aside for later re-assembly.
3. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (4) at the
negative (-) terminal on the battery in the engine side
battery box.
4. Disconnect the negative (-) cable (5) at the bottom of
the battery equalizer (6).
5. Remove the rubber boot (7) from the joystick (8). Pull
the boot off the base (9) and remove the boot from
the handle.

6. Remove the four button head capscrews (10)
securing the logic panel (11) to the side console.
Carefully pry the logic console upward. Label, then
disconnect the wiring harness leads at the logic
panel. Remove the logic panel from the vehicle.
7. Loosen the upper hex nut (12).

8. Reach through the logic panel opening in the console
and pull the joystick connector through the opening.
9. Remove the gray secondary lock (13) from the
joystick wiring connector, by gently prying up on
each side of the lock with a small screwdriver.
Remove the lock from the wires and save the lock for
reassembly.
10. Note the position of the wires (14) for reassembly,
and remove the wires from the joystick connector
(15). Use a small paper clip (16) or a small pick to
release the locking tabs on each wire. Pull the wires
(14) all the way out of the connector, the weather-
tight seals can remain on the wires. Save the connector
for reassembly.
11. Loosen the screws holding the wire clamps (17).
12. Carefully pull the joystick wires (18) through the
small hole (19) in the mounting plate, until the
sleeves (20), surrounding the wires, are out of the
hole. One at a time, carefully pull the wires through the
hole. DO NOT damage the terminals while pulling
the wires out of the hole.
