Chapter 2. Service Utility-Additional Instructions
Contrast Adjustment
Adjust the inclination (rise) of the reference gamma curve by varying the contrast parameter value. The
gamma curve is increased of decreased in the input QL direction according to the value of contrast.
Contrast is equal to the inclination of the tone curve multiplied by 100; in the chart illustrated below, it is
represented by a ratio of L1 to L2 (L1/L2 × 100). Its input range is from 10 to 400. With contrast = 100,
the gamma curve is equal to the reference gamma curve. The inclination of the gamma curve is gradual
with contrast < 100, whereas it is sharp with contrast > 100.
