Setting the Control Unit (PC) to Use PEI01A Board

The procedure described below sets the control unit (PC) to use a PEI01A board (the
term "PEI01A board" in this manual later is referred to as PEI board).
The objective of this procedure is to make sure to assign the PEI board an interrupt
number other than that of a DXA01A board (the term "DXA01A board" in this manual
later is referred to as DXA board) by assigning the interrupt number for DXA board (5
and 10) in advance.
NOTE
• This setting is necessary for all DELL Optiplex GX1, GX110, GX150 and
GX260 series control unit models. Perform either " Setting GX1/GX110
Series Control Unit" or " Setting GX150/GX260 Series Control Unit"
described later according to the control unit model.
• If the last four digits of the SERIAL NUMBER of the control unit is "2247"
or later, this setting has been already performed at a factory.
• This setting must be performed, if only PEI board is to be used or PEI and
DXA boards are to be used concurrently.
• If a DXA board is only to be used, the performance is not affected without
this setting.
• Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) confirms the internal hardware of the
control unit and this setting to automatically assign the available interrupt
number for a PEI board.
• This settings are saved in the backup RAM in the control unit. The setting,
therefore, shall not be affected by repairing the hard disk drive or by re-
installing various softwares. Resetting is required, however, when the
mother board in the control unit should be repaired or the control unit itself
should be replaced.
