Maintenance 11. Installing Software for GX260 Series Control Unit
Installing Windows XP
Use the "OPERATING SYSTEM Reinstallation CD" enclosed with the control unit (PC)
to install Windows XP for the DELL OptiPlex GX260 series.
After freeing up an area of hard disk space, secure the area again to install in the same
manner as installing to the former GX1/GX110/GX150 series.
Outline of procedure is shown below.

When the control unit power is switched on. [Press any key to boot from CD]
appears at the top left of the screen, press <Enter> key. Start up from the
"OPERATING SYSTEM Reinstallation CD" inserted at " Preparation". After
this, set up starts automatically. So carry out the procedure in order following
the instructions on the screen.

[Welcome to Setup.] appears on the screen, so press <Enter> key (Continue).
(3)
[Windows XP Licensing Agreement] appears on the screen, so press <Page
Down> key and scroll the screen down to the bottom. Press <F8> key (I
agree).

When [If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup
can try to repair it.] is displayed on the screen, press <Esc> key (Don't Repair).

When [The following list shows the existing partitions and unpartitioned space
on this computer.] is displayed on the screen, select each partition displayed
(C and D) and press the <D> key (Delete Partition), <Enter> key (Continue,
not necessary expect for deletion of system partition), then <L> key (Delete)
in this order to delete all partitions.
When deletion of all partitions is complete, "Unpartitioned space xxxxxMB"
(xxxxx varies according to hard disk capacity) is displayed.
NOTE
If "-:Partition1[FAT] xxMB" is displayed in the list, this should not be deleted.

After deleting all partitions, select "Unpartitioned space xxxxxMB" and press
<C> key (Create Partition).

Enter a figure equal to half the value of the numeric figure displayed in "The
maximum size for the new partition is xxxxxMB." to [Create Partition of Size
(In MB):] as the size to be set for system partition (C Partition), and press
<Enter> key.
NOTE
The numeric figure entered here doesn't have to be exactly half. If half the
value is a fractional figure, it can be rounded up or down.
