Maintenance 8. Software Installation
CAUTION
After successfully completing the software installation, start up the service
utility and set each configuration.
If the service utility settings file has been saved onto a floppy disk during the
normal operation of the FN-PS551 system prior to beginning the software
reinstallation, the settings can be restored from this file.
NOTE
Beyond this point, parts of the software installation procedure differ depending
on whether the control unit (PC) model is DELL OptiPlex GX1 series or GX110
series. The differences are specified in the following steps, so refer to the
relevant part for installation.
8.1

Installing Windows NT

CAUTION
• Install Windows NT after repairing a faulty control unit (PC) or replacing
an internal HDD in the control unit.
• Once Windows NT is reinstalled, all driver software and FN-PS551
applications software files in the C drive (C:) are erased. In this case,
reinstall all drivers and the FN-PS551 application as well.
The following will be required for the installation;
• Product ID (Number indicated on the cover of the "Windows NT Workstation
For distribution with a new PC only" guide book.)
• "Windows NT Workstation For distribution Only with a New PC"
CD-ROM ................................................................................................. X 1
• Windows NT Workstation Setup Disks #1-3 ........................................... X 3
• 3COM 3C90X Fast EtherLink XL NIC Drivers Disk
(For a GX1 series control unit)................................................................ X 1
• 3COM EtherDisk 5.04 Disk 1, 2
(For a GX110 series control unit)............................................................ X 2
CAUTION
Ensure that the install disk is write-protected (write-disabled) to prevent data
and programs in it from being modified or erased accidentally.
