Chapter 1. Network Installation Specification
Formatting and Copying the System FD of the Router
The router used here is started up from the floppy disk containing the environment settings file(s). Note
that the router will be unable to start up if the floppy disk is damaged or is not present in the drive.
How to back up system FD is described here.
1. Items Necessary for Backup
The router itself is used to format and copy a floppy disk. Items necessary for that are set forth below.
(1)
A VT-100 or equivalent CRT terminal with an RS-232C serial interface, or personal computer
with a communication facility (software). (The PC should have an RS-232C connector.)
(2)
Null modem cable
A 25-pin D-SUB cable. The connector on the router end should be male. The cable wiring
is as illustrated below.

2. Backup Procedures
An excerpt of "Formatting and Copying a Floppy Disk" from the instruction manual is attached hereto.
A floppy disk should be formatted and copied in accordance with the procedures described.
