Appendix
Chapter 1. Network Installation Specification
Precautions for Router Installation
A router is used to implement image transmission between two remote institutions via ISDN. Its
installation-related information and acceptance procedures are set forth below.
1. Preconditions
(1)
ISDN Service Contract
An ISDN service contract should be entered with NTT under the line switching (INS-C)
system.
(2)
Router Requirements
A router for connection between Ethernet and ISDN is exclusively limited to the model
stipulated below, at present. (Other units should not be used.)
Seiko Instruments: NS-2082CL
(3)
Installation Environments
Installation environments for the router and HIC (address setup, etc.) should be notified in
advance to Seiko Instruments' personnel concerned. Installation, including address setting
for the router, will be done remotely via ISDN in accordance with the installation
environments notified.
2. Installation Procedures
It is assumed that the network devices and ISDN installation that comply with the above requirements
already exist.
(1)
Installing a Router
A router is connected to Ethernet via a transceiver cable. It is treated as a node connected to
the network in a similar manner to the HI-C654.
A. Installation of Router
The router may be placed either vertically or horizontally, depending on the place where
it is to be installed. To place the router vertically, attach a stand to it; to place horizontally,
attach rubber feet.
B. Connection to ISDN
Plug the connector of the ISDN cable into the ISDN port connector of the router. Then,
plug the other connector of the ISDN cable to the rosette (8-pin modular jack port) connected
to the DSU.
C. Connection to Ethernet
Connect a transceiver cable to the 10BASE5 connector located on the rear of the router.
(The other end of the transceiver cable should have been hooked up to the transceiver
connected to Ethernet.)
When above connections are completed, connect a 100 V AC power cable. After that, checking that the
System FD (note that it is not the Diagnostic FD) is inserted, power ON.
For more detail, refer to Chapter 2 "Installation and Connection" of the instruction manual of the router.
