Flow Chart for Trouble Diagnosis
NOTE
• Use a Scan-I to check.
• Refer to the circuit diagram for the SSPS ECU.
Any problem with ECU
power supply fuse?
Yes
Check ignition switch
with ECU disconnected
and ignition switch
"ON".
Is the voltage between
ground terminal and ECU
harness connector No.4
measured by 12 V?
Yes
Disconnect battery (-)
terminal and check.
Check the continuity
between No.1 and No.2
connector in
ECU harness.
Yes
Is the resistance
between terminal No.1
and No.2 measured by 5.7
~ 7.7 W (at 20°C) during
integrity check?
Yes
POWER STEERING SYSTEM

Open wiring (damaged harness)
Damaged or disconnected

harness between fuse and ECU

Disconnect the SSPS solenoid

compartment and check.
Check the continuity between 2
connectors in steering gear box

between ECU and SSPS solenoid

Poor contact in SSPS solenoid

Poor contact in SSPS solenoid
valve connector or defective ECU
Repair harness/replace fuse.
Reconnect or repair harness.
If normal, replace ECU.
Repair harness.
Damaged or disconnected

Replace power steering assem-
bly or repair connection area.
Repair solenoid valve
