CURRENT MEASUREMENT
General note
It is not often necessary to measure the
amperage on the engine. This requires an
ammeter, which is usually integrated in a multi-
meter.
NOTICE
WARNUNG
Amperage:
Never measure the amperage in the cable to the
starter with a normal ammeter! The measure-
ment unit can be destroyed by the high currents
which occur here.
A current clamp can be used for measuring such
high amperages.
Step
1
Before the current measurement, the
measurement unit is adjusted to the mea-
surement range in which the amperage
you are measuring is likely to be found. If
this is not known, set the highest mea-
surement range, and if there is no display,
switch down to the next measurement
range, and so on.
2
The circuit must be disconnected in order
to measure the amperage. The measure-
ment unit (ammeter) is connected in be-
tween.
