The 3 retaining grooves on the valve stem
must be visually inspected for damage
and wear.
A new valve cotter must be inserted
NOTE:
for the wear check. This must have no
perceptible backlash.
VALVE SEATS CHECK

Check the valve seat faces visually for
damage and wear.

Lubricate the valve seat faces evenly with
touch up paste and install the valves in
the corresponding valve guides.
3
Turn the valves with moderate pressure
so that a clear print of the sealing surface
is produced on the valve seat ring.

Check that the seal fits properly, if neces-
sary lubricate with valve lapping paste.
NOTICE
WARNUNG
The ring-shaped print on the valve seat faces of
the valve seat rings must be continuous and
have no breaks.
The width of the print corresponds to the valve
seat width CH02.
NOTICE
WARNUNG
If there are burn marks or distortion, the cylinder
head must be sent to an authorised overhauling
company for overhauling or repair.
