8.2.4 Creating a Cluster

To perform unified management over switches, you must first create a cluster and add switches
to be managed to the cluster.

1. Run the following command in the user view:
ntdp explore
Topology collection is enabled.
You can run this command to collect topology information at any time.
Configuring a management VLAN
Do as follows on the administrator switch and member switches:
1. Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2. Run:
vlan vlan-id
A VLAN is created and the VLAN view is displayed.
By default, the ID of the management VLAN on the device is 1, which should be
created manually.
– If you do not need to change the default ID of the management VLAN, you can
skip Step 6 and Step 7. The VLAN ID in Step 2 is 1.
– If you need to change the ID of the management VLAN, VLAN IDs in Step 2,
Step 4, and Step 7 must be the same.
3. Run:
quit
The VLAN view is quit.
4. Run:
interface vlanif vlan-id
A VLANIF interface is created and the VLANIF interface view is displayed.
5. Run:
quit
The VLANIF interface view is quit.
6. Run:
cluster
The cluster view is displayed.
7. Run:
mngvlanid vlan-id
A management VLAN is configured.
