Removing and installing tandem pump,
vehicles with engine code BKD, AZV
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Diesel extractor , e. g. -VAS 5226-
♦ Pliers for spring-type clips
Removing
WARNING
The tandem pump must on no account be disassembled, oth‐
erwise the proper operation of the pump vacuum part is no
longer assured. This will result in a failure of the brake booster.

Observe instructions for re-installing a used tandem pump

Note
Safety precautions when working on the fuel supply system
⇒ page 3

Observe the regulations concerning cleanliness when working
on the fuel supply/injection system
– Remove engine cover
– Detach the fuel intake hose -1- (marked in white) and fuel re‐
turn-flow hose -2- (marked in blue) from the fuel filter.
– Connect the diesel extractor - VAS 5226- to the fuel return-
flow hose -2-.
– Connect the compressed air to the diesel extractor - VAS
5226- .
– Create a vacuum with the diesel extractor - VAS 5226- until
no more fuel flows out of the fuel return-flow hose.
– Unplug connector -2- from air mass meter - G70- .
– Detach bleeder hose -1-, intake hose -3- and air guide hose
-5-.
– Unscrew screw -4- and remove air filter housing.
