Safety precautions when working on the fuel supply system

Observe the regulations concerning cleanliness when working
on the fuel supply/injection system
– Remove engine cover
– Remove air filter
⇒ page 220
– Remove fuel intake hose -2- (marked in white) from the tan‐
dem pump 4.
– Remove fuel return-flow hose -1- (marked in blue) from the
fuel line.

– Connect the diesel extractor - VAS 5226- at the fuel return-
flow hose.
– Connect the compressed air to the diesel extractor - VAS
5226- .
– Create a vacuum with the diesel extractor - VAS 5226- until
no more fuel flows out of the fuel return-flow hose.
– Disconnect the vacuum hose to the brake servo unit on the
tandem pump -arrow-,
– Pull out the central plug for the unit injectors.
