– Mark assignment of valve levers to aid reinstallation
– Remove screws -4- and -5-.
– Extract pin -3- on the outlet side of the valve levers using ex‐
tractor - T10133/3- so that it is removed from the cylinder head,
and remove valve lever.
Caution
When loosening the screw plug -5-, the valve lever pin on the
outlet side may twist against the mounting plate If a deforma‐
tion is noticeable during the visual inspection of the thread in
the valve lever pin, this pin must not be used any more because
the oil openings for the valve lever will no longer match. This
may cause seizure.
Install valve levers for outlet valves
Installation occurs in reverse order to removal. Pay attention to
the following:
– Before installing, wet the valve lever bearings with clean en‐
gine oil.
– Slide new O-ring onto the valve lever pin.
– Insert the valve lever pin into the cylinder head and insert the
valve levers one after the other.
– Tighten fixing screw -4- to 10 Nm.
– Replace screw plug -5- and tighten the new one to 10 Nm.
– Install connecting piece for coolant to the cylinder head

– Install the connecting pipe between the mechanical exhaust
gas recirculation valve and the flap of the radiator for exhaust
gas recirculation

Remove valve levers for inlet valves
– Remove the camshafts
– Mark assignment of valve levers to aid reinstallation
– Extract the pin on the inlet side of the valve levers using ex‐
tractor - T10133/3- so that they are removed from the cylinder
head, and remove valve levers.
Install valve levers for inlet valves
Installation occurs in reverse order to removal. Pay attention to
the following:
– Before installing, wet the valve lever bearings with clean en‐
gine oil.
– Insert the valve lever pin into the cylinder head and insert the
valve levers one after the other.
The valve lever pin must be flush with the cylinder head.
