Draining and topping up coolant for en‐
gines with code BKD, AZV
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Catch pan for workshop cranes , e.g. -VAS 6208-
♦ Pliers for spring-type clips
♦ Refractometer - T10007-
Draining
Note
Collect drained coolant in a clean container for proper disposal or
reuse.
WARNING
When opening the coolant expansion reservoir, hot steam or
hot coolant may escape. Cover the cap with a cloth and open
carefully.
– Open the cap of the coolant expansion reservoir.
– Remove noise insulation ⇒ Body Work ⇒ Rep. gr. 50 .
– Place a catch pan under the engine.
– Remove connecting hose on right; to do so, lift retaining clips
-arrows-.
WARNING
Shut off the opening of the charge air cooler, e.g. with a clean
foam piece, so that no coolant can penetrate.
– Remove the coolant hose from the radiator; to do so pull the
retaining clip -arrow-.
– Remove engine cover
– Remove the air guide hose between the lock carrier and air
filter.
