Note
Markings on the toothed belt sprocket and on the crankshaft
arrester must be in line with each other -arrow-.
The pin on the crankshaft arrester -arrow- must engage into
the hole in the sealing flange.
The crankshaft arrester can only be fitted onto the toothed belt
sprocket from the front side of the serration.
Ensure that the used camshaft bearing shells are not mixed
up (pay attention to marking).
When installing the camshafts, make sure that the bearing
shell retaining lugs are correctly positioned in the bearing bush
and cylinder head.
– Grease the running surfaces of the camshafts and bearings.
– Insert camshafts into the TDC for cylinder 1:
The cams -1- and -2- for cylinder 1 must be pointing upwards
on both camshafts.
The grooves -arrows- in the camshafts must also point up‐
wards.
– Cut the nozzle tube at the front marking (∅ of the nozzle ap‐
prox. 2 mm) and apply silicone sealant - D 176 501 A1- to the

Thickness of sealant bead: 2 mm.
Note
The bearing frame must be installed within 5 minutes after apply‐
ing the silicone sealant.
– Place bearing bush with inserted bearing shells onto the dowel
pins of the cylinder head.
