– Remove air filter
⇒ page 220
– Release screw plug -arrow-.
– Connect tester for tandem pump - VAS 5187 - with hollow
screw -VAS 5187/1A- as shown.
– Install air filter and intake hose and air guide hose.
– Connect air mass meter - G70- .
– Start engine and run in idle.
– Observe displayed pressure on the tester for tandem pump .
Specified value: at least 0,35 MPa (3,5 bar).
– Increase engine speed to 4000 rpm.
– Observe displayed pressure on the tester for tandem pump .
Specified value: at least 0,75 MPa (7,5 bar).
If the measurement is less than the specification:
– Clamp fuel return-flow line between tandem pump and fuel fil‐
ter with hose clamp - MP 7-602 - .
– Observe displayed pressure on the tester for tandem pump .
Specified value: at least 0,75 MPa (7,5 bar).
If the specified value is reached:
Pressure loss at the unit injectors.
– Replace O-rings for unit injectors
If the measurement is less than the specification:
– Replace tandem pump
Note
After removing the tester for tandem pump , tighten the screw plug
to 25 Nm. Always replace the gasket ring.
