– For gearboxes with drive shaft, replace the O-ring -1- on the
right side of the drive shaft and grease the serration -2- with
universal grease.
– Attach the right drive shaft and screw the left drive shaft onto
the drive flange ⇒ Suspension ⇒ Rep. gr. 40 .
– Install pre-exhaust pipe
free of stress ⇒ page 239
– Connect hydraulic line to hydraulic clutch control cylinder and
bleed the clutch hydraulics ⇒ Gearbox ⇒ Rep. gr. 30 .
– Attach the shift mechanism to the gearbox and adjust ⇒ Gear‐
box ⇒ Rep. gr. 34 .
– Fit fan shroud and radiator.

Vehicles with auxiliary heating
– Fit coolant hoses to the auxiliary heating and to the coolant
tubes.
– Fit long exhaust pipe of auxiliary heater ⇒ Heating, air condi‐
tioning ⇒ Rep. gr. 82 ,
Vehicles with air conditioning
– Install AC compressor at the bracket for auxiliary units
⇒ page 23 .
Continued for all vehicles
– Install alternator ⇒ Electrical System ⇒ Rep. gr. 27 .
– Install the V-ribbed belt
– Connect all connecting, fuel, cooling fluid, vacuum and suction
hoses to the engine.
– Observe the assembly instruction for hose connections with
push-fit couplings ⇒ page 198
– Connect electrical connections and attach cables ⇒ Current
flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
– Install battery ⇒ Electrical System ⇒ Rep. gr. 27 .
– Install bulkhead plenum chamber and plenum chamber cover
⇒ Body Work ⇒ Rep. gr. 66 .
– Install wiper arms ⇒ Electrical System ⇒ Rep. gr. 92 .
– Top up coolant ⇒ page 135
– Checking the oil level ⇒ Maintenance ; Booklet Octavia II .
– Install the noise insulation ⇒ Body Work ⇒ Rep. gr. 50 .
– Install bottom part of right wheelhouse liner ⇒ Body Work ⇒
Rep. gr. 66 .
– Perform a test drive.
– Query all fault memories, rectify any faults and delete fault
memories ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Note
After deleting the event memory of the engine control unit the
readiness code must be re-generated.
