Glow Plug System
1.1
Removing and installing the glow plugs
for engines with code BKD, AZV
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Insertion tool 8 mm
Removing
– Switch off ignition.
– Remove cylinder head cover
– Unplug connector from glow plugs.
– Remove glow plugs using plug insert -arrow-.
Installing
Installation occurs in reverse order to removal. Pay attention to
the following:
– Install glow plugs and tighten to 10 Nm.
– Install cylinder head cover

Checking the glow plugs for engines
with code BKD, AZV
Glow plugs can be checked in "guided fault finding" with the ve‐
hicle diagnosis, measurement and information system - VAS
5051- .

Removing and installing the glow plugs
for engines with code BMM
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Flexible-head wrench e.g. -3220 -
Removing
– Switch off ignition.
– Remove engine cover
