6.15.5.7 Testing Word Devices

Format and sign settings are applied when 16-bit integer or 32-bit integer is selected in display selection field. Format and
sign settings are not applied when real number or string is selected in display selection field.

Normal operation
(1) Press the "View" menu and select the display format (16-bit display, 32-bit display, single precision display, double preci-
sion display, and string display) of the device.
(2) Press the [FORMAT] menu key and select whether the device setting values are entered as decimal or hexadecimal
numbers.
(3) Press the [Sign] menu and select whether the device setting values are signed or unsigned.
(4) Press the [WORD DEVICE] menu key and enter the desired word device.
(5) Press the "SETTING VALUE" menu key and enter the desired value.
Note the following points when entering character strings in "SETTING VALUE".
 Up to two bytes for devices and the number of bytes (1 to 255 bytes) set at label creation for labels can be input.
 As NULL code is added at the end of the input character when 2-byte long characters are input for devices, NULL code
is input to the next device.
(6) Press the [SET] menu key. An error occurs when setting a value with a different format from that set in "Display", "For-
mat", and "Sign".

Enter the device name.
The device is incorrect. Specify a word
device.
A value has not been entered.
The device No. is outside the range.
Check using the parameter device.
The device setting exceeds the valid
range. Check the input value.
The device setting is incorrect. Enter
the correct number.
Label types and settings do not match.
Set to match label types.

Error details
This is displayed when the [SET] menu
key is pressed without entering the de-
vice name.
This is displayed when the [SET] menu
key is pressed when something other
than a word device was entered.

key is pressed without entering a setting
value.
This is displayed when the [SET] menu
key is pressed when a device outside of
the range is specified in the word device
name input field.
This is displayed when the [SET] menu
key is pressed when a value outside the
valid range of the device is specified in
the "Setting value" input field.
This is displayed when the [SET] menu
key is pressed when values which do
not match the format selected in "Dis-
play", "Format", and "Sign" selection
field are input in the "Setting value" in-
put field.
This is displayed when the [SET] menu
key is pressed when the label type and
the format selected in "Display" and
"Sign" selection field do not match.
Remedy
Enter the word device before pressing
the [SET] menu key.
Enter the word device before pressing
the [SET] menu key.
Enter a setting value before pressing
the [SET] menu key.
Enter a word device number within
range before pressing the [SET] menu
key.
Enter a value within the valid range of
the device, then press the [SET] menu
key.
Press the [SET] menu key after values
which match the format selected in "Dis-
play", "Format", and "Sign" selection
field are input in the "Setting value" in-
put field.
Set the format selected in "Display" and
"Sign" selection field to match the label
type, then press the [SET] menu key.
