6.14 External File Operation Menus
Abnormal operation
This information describes the details of error messages displayed on the "EXT.->NC" screen and the corrective action
thereof.
Error message
Read data has not been selected.
Write executions cannot be performed be-
cause the PLC is running. Execute again af-
ter the PLC stops.
Device point that is set in parameter is not
match the device point in NC. Continue the
reading PLC or writing PLC?
There is a program which is not converted/
compiled. Convert/compile the program be-
fore executing.
The device points set in the parameter do
not match the device points in NC.
The reading from PLC or writing to PLC is
suspended.
The project cannot be executed: user man-
agement setting is enabled in the security
function.
Disable the user management setting in GX
Works2, then execute the project.
Reading out a project with labels created
with GX Developer. This project is not sup-
ported, it will be read out as a project without
labels.
The project cannot be read out: the PLC
type of which NC does not support is set.
Failed to write to the NC. The project data in
the NC has been deleted.
Fix the following and try again:
 A ladder instruction not specified by this
product is included.
 The memory capacity is insufficient.
6.14.2.7 Closing the "EXT.->NC" Screen
Use any of the following methods to close the "EXT.->NC" screen.
Methods to close the screen
Press the [CLOSE] menu key.
Press the left arrow key.
Press the [ESC] key on the software keyboard.
Error details
This is displayed when the [EXECUTE] menu
key is pressed before any PLC data has been
selected from the displayed list.
This displays when attempting to store PLC
data stored in an external device into the NC
without stopping the PLC.
This message appears when you attempt to
read a parameter file that has a different num-
ber of device points from that of the NC for a
project without labels.
When you select [Yes], reading of the parame-
ter file is skipped and the reading process is
continued.
When you select [No], the reading process is
cancelled.
This message appears when uncompiled data
exists in PLC data for a project with labels or a
structured project.
This message appears when you attempt to
read a parameter file that has a different num-
ber of device points from that of the CNC for a
project with labels or a structured project.
This is displayed if user management is set for
GX Works2 project.
This message is displayed when reading a
project with labels created with GX Developer.
This message is displayed when PC type un-
supported by CNC (other than Q26UDH) is set
on GX Works2.
This message is displayed when writing to a
CNC fails.

Remedy
Select PLC data from the list before pressing
the [EXECUTE] menu key.
Store PLC data stored in an external device
into the NC after stopping the PLC.
Before reading a parameter file, check the
number of NC device points in "6.18.6 Device
Settings Screen" and correct if unmatched.
Open a project with GX Works2, convert/com-
pile it, and save it in external device.
Then store PLC data stored in external device
to CNC.
Before reading a parameter file, check the
number of device points of CNC in "6.18.6 De-
vice Settings Screen" and correct if un-
matched.
Open a project with GX Works2, delete a user,
and save it in external device. Refer to security
function in "6.14.2.6 Reading External Project
Data and Storing in the NC" for details.
This does not effect operation of PLC on-board.
(Operates as a project without labels.)
Note that when editing with PLC on-board,
symbolic information of a project with labels
may differ.
Set a project setting to CNC PC type in [Proj-
ect] - [Change PLC type] with GX Works2, then
store the project to external device.
Then store PLC data stored in external device
to CNC.
Please execute EXT. -> NC function again after
checking the following problems.
 - A ladder instruction not specified by this
product is included.
 - File capacity exceeds the upper limit.
 - Remote password is contained in a project.
