PPU/Scaling Calibration

The PPU/Scaling Calibration ensures the system is building models to an accurate size. PPU
stands for Pulses Per Unit and refers to motor pulses per set distance. Adjusting the motor
pulses per set distance in turn adjusts the size of the model being built.
Procedure
1.
Verify the system has thermally stabilized. (See
2.
Verify the XY Gantry Belt Tensions. (See
3.
Verify the tips installed are for 0.010 layer resolution (T16 Model Tip).
4.
Build the scaling part from the sample parts menu in the center of the build sheet. Build
Job > Show Sample Job Queue > (scale_(material)T16). The scaling part takes
approximately 1 hour to build.
5.
Remove the scaling part from the build sheet and remove the support material from the
part.
6.
Allow the scaling part to cool for a minimum of 30 minutes.
7.
Measure the X and Y dimensions of the scaling part with a caliper.
8.
The tolerance for the PPU part is 5.000 in. ± 0.005 in. (127mm ±0.127 mm). If the
measurements are both within tolerance the calibration is complete. If either
measurement is not within the specified tolerance, continue to
