Y Carriage Kapton Barrier Replacement

Tools and Materials Required
• Pliers
• Putty knife
• Safety gloves
Procedure
Warning: The gantry area can be hot. Wear proper protective gear.
1.
Open the top cover.
2.
Place the head in the head maintenance bracket. (See
page 5-13.)
3.
Using a pliers, peel the existing Kapton barrier from the heat shield in the Y carriage.
4.
Gently scrape the remaining adhesive material from the heat shield.
5.
Install a new Kapton barrier.
