Filament Drive Removal
Tools and Materials
• 3/4-inch open end wrench
• 5/32 in hex key
• 1/8-inch hex key
Procedure
1.
For the affected bay, unload filament from the head. (See
on page
2-38.)
2.
Remove the material canister from the bay. (See

Power down the system. (See

Remove the LED fascia panel by removing 3 screws using a 5/32-inch hex key and 2
screws using a 1/8-inch hex key.
5.
Disconnect the filament tube for the affected filament drive at the Y block.
To disconnect filament tube from a connector, press in on the black
end ring of the connector while pulling out on the tube.
Caution: If working on a system with four filament drives, do not
replace all four filament drives at the same time. Replacing all four
interface connections at the same time. Disconnecting all four
filament drives could cause the system to 're-gender' itself. Leave at
least one connection connected to its original block. Attach the
disconnected cables, power-up the system, then power down and
disconnect the remaining blocks as necessary to complete
maintenance.
6.
Disconnect the interface cable from the filament drive.
7.
Support the filament drive from the underside.
8.
Remove the detent lever from the affected filament drive (3/4-inch open end wrench).
