Chapter 5 Special Effects Operations
The "dim" effect makes the image darker as it recedes into the
distance (i.e. along the z-axis). The "fade" effect makes the image
fade into the background as it recedes into the distance.
These functions require the BKDM-3050 option.
In the PICTURE MODIFY menu, press F4 (DIM & FADE) to
display the DIM & FADE menu.

The following are some of the operations carried out in this menu.
Applying the "dim" function – F1 (DIM)
Use the following procedure.

Press F1 (DIM), turning it on.

Adjust the "DIM" parameters as follows.
• Left knob ("Strt"): position along z-axis at which dimming
starts (–100 to +100)
• Center knob ("Gain"): rate at which dimming proceeds (0 to
100%)
Selecting the color to which the image dims in the
background – F3 (DIM COLOR) and F4 (HUE ROT)
You can select the color to which the image dims using a
procedure similar to that for setting a background.
For details see "BKGD Settings" (page 5-13).
Applying fading – F5 (FADE)

Press F5 (FADE), turning it on.

Adjust the "FADE" parameters as follows.
• Left knob ("Strt"): position along z-axis at which fading
starts (–100 to +100)
• Center knob ("Gain"): rate at which fading proceeds (0 to
100%)
