Chapter 5 Special Effects Operations
Setting the position of the light source
The setting method depends on the type of light source selected
with F3 (LIGHT SOURCE), as follows.
• Using a point light source
The trackball adjusts the x- and y-coordinates, and the Z-ring
adjusts the z-coordinate.
• Using a parallel light source
The trackball adjusts the longitude (x-coordinate) and the latitude
(y-coordinate).
Selecting the type of light source – F3 (LIGHT SOURCE)
Press F3 (LIGHT SOURCE) to toggle between a point light source
and a parallel light source.
Note
If the point light source and viewpoint are coincident, it will not be
possible to see any shadow.
You can get the coordinates of the viewpoint from the
"PERSPECT" (perspective) parameters of the 3D transform.
• Viewpoint x- and y-coordinates = perspective parameters X and
Y
• Viewpoint z-coordinate =
If the perspective parameter Z is 0.06 (default value), the z
coordinate of the viewpoint is –16.00.
Setting the density of the drop shadow – F7 (DENSITY
TYPE)
Use the following procedure.
1
Press F7 (DENSITY TYPE), to set the density of the drop
shadow.
FLAT: the drop shadow is of uniform density.
DEPTH: the drop shadow becomes lighter further from the
light source.
