6 Avaya MultiVantage Software-Controlled Maintenance:
Access Endpoint functionality and operation is identical on both line-side and network facilities.
However, because maintenance capabilities are limited to the Wideband Access Endpoint interface,
and because faults can occur end-to-end, troubleshooting procedures based on an end-to-end view of
the network is required.
Wideband access endpoint port maintenance provides a strategy to maintain a wideband access
endpoint port via a port on the DS1 interface Media Module hardware. The maintenance strategy
covers logging wideband access endpoint port hardware errors, running tests for port initialization,
periodic and scheduled maintenance, demand tests, and alarm escalation and resolution. Two
different port service states are specified in the wideband access endpoint port maintenance:
• out-of-service: the port is in a deactivated state and cannot be used for calls
• in-service: the port is in an activated state and can be used for calls
If the DS1 Interface Media Module is out of service, all ports on it are taken out of service and a
Warning alarm is raised.

Notes:
• (a) The wideband access endpoint has been busied out by a busyout access-endpoint
extension command. No calls can be made to this extension.
• (b) The Media Module has been removed or has been insane for more than 11-minutes. To clear the
error, reinsert or replace the Media Module.
• (e) The Interface Media Module has failed. See DS1-MM.
