M. INTERNET PROTOCOL RESOURCE CARD (IPRC)
Security is the responsibility of the customer's network administrator. Inter-Tel is not respon-
sible for network problems due to security violations involving the IP address exposure of
the IPRC. This includes, but is not limited to, toll fraud and interrupted network service.
10.65 Prior to v9.0, Internet Protocol Resource Cards (IPRC) were configured to be network-
ing IPRCs (used for private networking) or device IPRCs (used for IP devices). Version 9.0 or
later system software introduces an improved IPRC that supports both IP devices and private
networking on the same card. This functionality allows for a cost reduction where one IPRC
provides sufficient resources for both the IP endpoints and IP networking.
10.66 The new IPRC configuration replaces both the networking IPRC and 8.x firmware
device IPRC configurations from previous releases. When version 8.1.x or later IPRC firm-
ware is used with a v9.0 or later Axxess system, the IPRC allows an Axxess system to share IP
endpoint and IP networking capabilities on the same IPRC. When upgraded to v9.0 or later, the
system prevents IPRCs running with firmware older than version 8.1 to come online.
10.67 In v11.0, the IPRC "enhanced" daughter card offers new technology for echo cancella-
tion on all calls routed through the IPRC, as well as enhanced diagnostics for troubleshooting
echo problems. When the enhanced daughter card is installed and programmed, the new tech-
nology on the daughter card replaces the echo cancellers on the IPRC, resulting in improved
echo cancellation. There are two types of enhanced daughter cards available:
IPRC-DE (Daughter Enhanced), part no. 550.2277: Provides new echo cancellation
technology.
IPRC16-DE, part no. 550.2276: Provides new echo cancellation technology with the
DSP circuitry for up to 16 additional VoIP channels.
10.68 For more information, refer to the IPRC Enhanced Daughter Card Installation Instruc-
tions (document part no. 835.3195) and the IPC/IPRC and IP Endpoint Firmware Notice (doc-
ument part no. 835.2720-9).
10.69 Private Networking: To use a v9.0.0 IPRC for private networking, at least one of the
VoIP resources must be programmed for networking. System software v9.0 or later provides a
networking wizard (see
and efficiently program private networking on the IPRC.
NOTE:
10.70 IP Devices: Each IPRC supports up to 32 IP devices (16 IP devices without an IPRC
daughter card), MGCP trunks, SIP trunks, multi-protocol devices, Model 8602 IP softphone, or
IP networking ports. The v9.0.0 firmware IPRC does not support the IP SoftPhone. The IP
SoftPhone requires an IPRC running firmware v1.x. The Model 8602 IP softphone requires
IPRC firmware v9.0.0 or later. For information about IP Devices, see the latest IP Devices
Installation Manual.
The IP SoftPhone requires v1.x firmware and is not supported by IPRCs that have v8.1 or
later firmware. Other IP endpoints, such as the Model 8660, however, require a v8.1 or later
firmware IPRC. For these reasons, Inter-Tel recommends that you do not connect IP Soft-
Phones and other IP endpoints to the same IPRC. If you do, you may lose feature or phone
functionality.
