Timing chain: Removal - Refitting

a Unlock the tensioners for the secondary timing
chains.
a Refit:
- the primary chain shoe,
- a new primary chain tensioner guide equipped with
new bolts,
- a new primary chain upper guide equipped with
new bolts,
- a new primary chain hydraulic tensioner equipped
with new bolts.
a Tighten to torque:
- the bolts of the primary chain shoe (21 N.m),
- the bolt of the new primary timing chain ten-
sioner guide (16 N.m),
- the new primary chain upper guide bolts (8
N.m),
- the new primary chain hydraulic tensioner bolts
(9 N.m).
a Unlock the tensioner of the primary timing chain.
a Perform two crankshaft turns to check the timing ad-
justment.
a Remove:
- the bolts of the upper guide of the primary timing
chain,
- the upper guide of the primary timing chain.
a Apply beads of SILICONE ADHESIVE SEALANT
(see Vehicle: Parts and consumables for the re-
pair) (04B, Consumables - Products) with a width of
2.6 to 3.6 mm to the inner timing cover.
a Refit:
- the new O-rings (25) of camshaft bearing no.1,
- the new upper O-rings of the tensioners for the sec-
ondary timing chains.
