Front exhaust manifold: Removal - Refitting

- the heat shield studs of the front exhaust manifold,
if they have become loose.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean and degrease:
- the cylinder head surface,
- the exhaust manifold joint faces if they are being
reused,
- the turbocharger joint face.
a Refit new exhaust manifold studs, if they were loos-
ened during the removal operation.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- a new front exhaust manifold seal,
- a new clip on the turbocharger front exhaust mani-
fold,
- a new seal between the front exhaust manifold and
the turbocharger,
- the front exhaust manifold starting with the turbo-
charger then the cylinder head.
a Without tightening, fit the rear exhaust manifold onto
the turbocharger.
a Refit the front exhaust manifold spacers.
a Fit without tightening the new front exhaust manifold
nuts.
FUEL MIXTURE

a Torque tighten in order the:
- front exhaust manifold nuts (initial torque) (18
N.m),
- front exhaust manifold nuts (torque) (32 N.m).
a Torque tighten the front exhaust manifold clip (9
N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- the front exhaust manifold heat shield,
- the multifunction support,
- the front exhaust manifold shield nuts,
- the front exhaust manifold side heat shield.
- the coolant outlet unit (see 19A, Cooling, Water
chamber: Removal - Refitting, page 19A-100) .
a Clip the front row fuel drain hose onto the multifunc-
tion support.
a Refit:
- the dipstick guide support bolt on the multifunction
support,
- the air conditioning pipe support bolt onto the mul-
tifunction support.
a Place the engine wiring onto the multifunction sup-
port.
a Refit:
- the engine wiring support nut onto the multifunction
support,
