Crankshaft seal on timing end: Removal - Refitting

- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D, Engine mounting, Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting, page
19D-51) ,
- the timing belt (see 11A, Top and front of engine,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-50) .
a Remove the crankshaft timing sprocket (4) .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove the crankshaft seal on the timing end.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION
a Always replace the crankshaft seal.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (MR 415, 04B,
Consumables - Products) to clean and degrease:
- the crankshaft joint face,
- the cylinder block gasket face.
WARNING
The joint faces must be clean, dry and free from
grease (avoid finger marks).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit the new crankshaft seal on the timing end us-
ing the (Mot. 990-03).
III - FINAL OPERATION.

a Refit:
- the crankshaft timing sprocket,
- the timing belt (see 11A, Top and front of engine,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-50) ,
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D, Engine mounting, Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting, page
19D-51) ,
- the new exhaust bracket seal,
- the exhaust flange nuts,
- the engine tie-bar,
- the engine tie-bar bolt from the subframe,
- the engine tie-bar bolt on the sump.
a Torque tighten:
- the engine tie-bar bolt on the subframe (115
Nm),
- the engine tie-bar bolt on the sump (190 Nm).
a Refit:
- the crankshaft accessories pulley (see 11A, Top
and front of engine, Crankshaft accessories
pulley: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-33) ,
