TOP AND FRONT OF ENGINE
Cylinder head: Removal - Refitting
M9R
M9R, and 742 or 744 or 746 or 748
a Fit a new seal on the dipstick guide tube.
a Lubricate the seal with engine oil.
a Fit the dipstick guide tube in the cylinder block with-
out rotating the guide tube.
Note:
Check that the seal has not come out of its hous-
ing.
a Tighten the dipstick tube bolts.
a Refit the filler cap - dipstick assembly.
M9R, and 754 or 800 or 802 or 803 or 805 or 806
or 808 or 809 or 816 or 845 or 849
a Refit the upper and lower dipstick tube assembly on
the cylinder block.
a Tighten the bolts of the upper dipstick tube.
a Refit the filler cap - dipstick assembly.
a Fit the fuel collector outlet pipe of the cylinder head.
a Connect the high pressure pump fuel collection pipe
onto the fuel collector outlet pipe of the cylinder
head.
a Refit:
- the rocker cover (see 11A, Top and front of en-
gine, Rocker cover: Removal - Refitting, page
11A-139) .
- the diesel injectors (see 13B, Diesel injection,
Diesel injector: Removal - Refitting, page 13B-
229) ,
- the high pressure pipes between the rail and the in-
jectors (see 13B, Diesel injection, High pressure
pipe between rail and injector: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 13B-161) ,
- the diesel return rail (see 13B, Diesel injection,
Diesel injector fuel return rail: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 13B-108) ,
- the oil decanter (see 11A, Top and front of en-
gine, Oil decanter: Removal - Refitting, page
11A-307) ,
- the high pressure pipe between the pump and the
rail (see 13B, Diesel injection, High pressure
pipe between pump and rail: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 13B-140) ,
- the vacuum pump (see Vacuum pump: Removal
- Refitting) ,
- the turbocharger oil pipes (see 12B, Turbocharg-
ing, Turbocharger oil pipe: Removal - Refitting,

- Depending on the version, the catalytic pre-con-
verter or the catalytic converter at the turbocharger
outlet (see 19B, Exhaust, Catalytic pre-convert-

Refitting, page 19B-32) ,
- the damper valve (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Damp-
er valve: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-39) .

a Refit the exhaust gas pressure sensor (see 19B, Ex-
haust, Exhaust gas pressure sensor: Removal -
Refitting, page 19B-93) .
a Refit:
- the timing chain (see 11A, Top and front of en-
gine, Timing chain: Removal - Refitting, page
11A-88) ,
- the new crankshaft seal on the timing end (see
1 0 A , Engine and cylinder block assembly,
Crankshaft seal on timing end: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 10A-134) .
a Fit the flywheel locking tool (Mot. 1431) onto the cyl-
inder block.
a Refit the crankshaft accessories pulley (see 11A,
Top and front of engine, Crankshaft accessories
pulley: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-33) .
a Remove the flywheel locking tool (Mot. 1431).
a Refit:
- the coolant pump (see 19A, Cooling, Coolant
pump: Removal - Refitting, page 19A-66) ,
- the new accessories belt (see 11A, Top and front
of engine, Accessories belt: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 11A-13) .
a Remove the engine from the component support
(see Engine support equipment: Use) .
